Legal Advisor

Legal Advisor, Legal Consultant - Legal Title, Role & Designation explained

Let us start with the terms Legal Advisor and Legal Consultant. These are probably the most generic terms that apply to any person who is giving any kind of legal advice. In many countries, there may be little or no restrictions on who can be a legal advisor or a consultant. For example, a person who has working knowledge of tax law or labour law – purely because of experience – can become a legal advisor or consultant – even without any formal academic qualifications. However, the scope of a legal advisor, who does not have formal legal qualifications, may be limited to providing advice and external support – such an advisor or consultant cannot represent the clients in formal legal proceedings or in the court of law.
